I think everyone in this forum should say a prayer for Celia Cruz. A true pioneer of Salsa music.

Yeah man that's what I done as I heard she's gone...
(and immediately after I thought "there would have been many other ugly people who would have better left this world, why her?")

Amen, Yalla. I met when I was 13-14 years old and she was the most beautiful, sincere person I have ever met. Many artist has passed these past few years, but this affected me the most!
Sad thing is, they're no Salsa vocalist out know to Celia calibur. Maybe La India but she still really hasn't paid her dues yet. I will say this, La India is a fantastic vocalist, but she's no Celia.

Thanks Celia for those BIG trumpet vocals, those tuff and tender colorering of percussion's, those wild dance partys at the Hollywood Bowl...you will be missed...I hope i can still move a dance party to a frenzy at 78 yr like Dear Celia...The level of her shows was pure heat...The Playboy Jazz with Celia,Elrey and Mongo is memorable show of the 90"s...A must have CD is A Night of Salsa with Celia & Friends...this is pure sugar AZUCAR...The hardest Live salsa i have heard on CD

For sure Mbalax, I guess God is now dancing to Celia's voice, Compay's guitar and Mongo's drums...

Celia is the Queen, not only becouse she is good, but becouse at the time she jumped to sing,Son,Guaracha, and Rumba, that was a genre of music respected by many males singers which never got in to it becouse you have to have better dominion of the tempo.
