Drummers,
It is with extreme sadness I tell you that drumming legend Elvin Jones passed away this morning at his home in New York City. He will be missed.

I saw him at the Chicago Jazz Fest last year. A true jazz giant

I feel fortunate to have seen him at the SF Jazz Festival a few years ago. A great show. :D

Unfortunately, I didn't take the opportunity to see his performance in Oakland (yoshi's) last month.

Sad to hear this today. :(

I was blown away when I first heard his work on 'A Love Supreme': the polyrhythms just tumble out.

Well as a Drummer-Percussionist,we have to thanks those creating the foundation in which we are still working at, Elvin Jones was one of those.

Ohh what a drummer. Those polyrhythms,rim shots,press rolls, was like having timbales,conga. Elvin was a complete one man percussion section This cat could swing too. Elvin invented Heavy metal Bebop .Just listen to " OUT OF THIS WORLD " by John Coltrane..Elvin was master with brushes
