A few of the links are dead, like the one for making djembes, but it's a very good starting point. I'm in the process of converting an old guitar of mine into a just intonation instrument, but I may try out one of these other projects before I'm through.

I have an old 5 liter Warsteiner party keg that has the potential of being a really good drum. Striking the bottom gets loud, sustained open tones (bell tones), and loud, powerful slaps. The obstacle is the large rim that makes playing it painful. I may take off the bottom and add a skin or synthetic head.
