I noticed that on 'Travelling through Time' Giovanni has a rope round his lead drum that runs around the back of his legs by the looks of it. This seems a good way to secure the conga more firmly. Does anyone do the same? I think I'm going to start doing so because sometimes when I do gigs on wooden floors and hit hard I feel the drum inching away from me!

That's nothing new, it's just a way of securing the drum. I have even done that, not anymore, cause I stand and play. "JC" Johnny Conga..........

Or try a bungee cord - hook the ends onto the drum hardware and loop it around your legs, or your chair's legs . . .

I have seen Francisco Aguabella, Raul Rekow, and Richito Flores back in the day with Roena's Apollo Sound using the bungee cord to secure their lead drum.
