:O I was looking in the Conga Book for practice patterns.
One of the patterns by Gilbert Silveria had "d" and "s''. Forgive me......What is that? :O

What do "d" and "s" stand for...? Dominant and Submissive?
P.S. If something like that IS the case, it makes a lot more sense than "left" and "right" because it doesn't matter which hand is dominant in your playing.
But I'm just guessing here.

I don't speak Italian, but using a translator (such as that at http://www.altavista.com) one can determin that "mano destra, mano sinistra" is "right hand, left hand"

Well 'mano destra' means the hands were you are conducting you primarily affairs like writing, etc.,if you are left- handed, then you mano-destra is going to be the left-hand(which could be confusing).

REVERSE these exercises to the left hand start also.
the same can be done also playing "doubles"...just try these and also work for "speed", try to play these as fast as you can buidling tempo slowly and then faster and faster. You guys are right: D is right and S is left.
A new good book is the one from Zun Zun (Laurent Lamy).
Check it out on the net. It is in French and Spanish.
I also have a great method book (pdf format) and two CDs that go with it. It is in french and I am still downloading the sound files, but if anyone needs it, just contact me.
See ya.
