Thanks Ivan....BTW from left to right ..it's me "JC" Johnny Conga(stick in hand)on tumba, Ivan on Conga, in the middle, behind him is Tahoma on bell, then Patty the dancer, then Tor Dietrichson on quinto, and Steve Cherena, chekere/akpwon. This is our "Bembe Ochun". One of my 35 rhythmic arrangements that this group "Origins" performs......"JC" Johnny Conga....

Is the stick for playing clave on rim while holding down the tumba?

Also, what's the venue/occasion of this performance...just being curious

No.. I am playing "stick on drum" the African approach.I am playing the "solo"(low) drum for Bembe Ochun. We were performing at Shoreline Community College, here in Seattle....."JC" Johnny Conga.... :;):
