Sorry to report that the Brasilian drummer/percussionist Dom Um Romao died this week at his sister's home in Rio at age 79. Dom Um played drums and Brasilian percussion for Sergio Mendes, Frank Sinatra, Antonio Carlos Jobim, Astrud Gilberto and was the percussionist for Weather Report in the early 1970's. He was also a solo artist with a number of releases for Brasilian, European, and American record companies. Dom Um will be sorely missed by Jazz & Latin afficianados everywhere.

Saludos,

Berimbau

Thanks Dom for what you taught me through your recordings. A true legend.
