Hi all, some of you may be familiar with my 'Step by Step How to make Guiro's thread' found by *CLICKING HERE*

Well today I had alot of time to myself so I got busy building another guiro and I got around to finishing something I started a long long time ago...
I originally stole the idea after seeing Edwin Bonilla live as he had a similar cool little instrument/sound effect, a shitload of keys tied onto a bit of rope.. Made an amazing chimes effect and is cost effective, in that it effictively cost me nothing!
Some nylon rope I had sitting in the back shed and went around to friends places collecting old keys from everyone I knew.

See below for pics!

This little guiro is a present for my girlfriend (she is a singer in a Timba band here), Im getting a small dedication carved into the shell professionally tomorrow, once they've done that, I will complete the guiro by applying the the protective shiny stuff. (Timber stainer and sealer) Will get pics up once finished....

Hope you enjoyed the pics! Both the guiro and 'key chimes' sound fantastic with big projection and clear sounds.

Impressive as ever Abakua, the guiro in your left hand is HUGE!
Must sound very hot.. Does the gourd only grow in hot climates - I would love to be able to try cultivating some, maybe in a greenhouse?

hahahaha Onile you crack me up bro. Im glad you liked the pics.
Im adding a few more keys today to the 'key chimes'. I love the sound it makes! Great for effects and stuff.

Charangaman! Thanks for the comments, hehehe yeh the big one is fairly large, sounds awesome though!
From my understanding, gourds can be grown in most climates as long as you plant them at the right time.
They do need to be grown in a "frost free" environment though.
