Hey all, Just started taking a class with a former member of Cutumba who lives here in Seattle now. His name is Jose Carrion. This specific class focuses on a rhythm of the easter side of the island which is played primarily in Festivals.

Those of you that have seen the DVD "Ulaka Laka" have a general idea of this ryhthm... I took some pictures of practices we've had and I also have some video clips. The clips are pretty big, so if you would like to have a clip emailed to you send me a private message with your email address.

I hope all is well!

Ilu Ache

I know Jose - he is primarily a dancer (he was the principal for Cutumba), but he's also a very knowledgable percussionist. His son currently plays with Cutumba.

Tell him Barney (or El Boni) says 'que bola'.
