Hi guys (and gals, if any)! If you sing while playing, here's a headset mike I made from readily available, and cheap parts. It's good enough to mike your drums too! A clever sound guy can make it work for both, leaving nothing in front of you to keep the audience from seeing your smiley mug. PM me for details. Or if the thread shows enough interest, I'll try to get a step-by step with photos when I make the next one.

You can also make a hook for one ear use...it's light enough to stay put even when jumping up and down. If you have long hair, use the full headset style for stability under the mop.

I also find that very interesting, and agree that a step-by-step would be most excellent. I would put the know-how to use.

Thanks!

I will be making another one for my son when he gets back from his camp counselor job next week. After he decides which type he wants, I'll snap some pics of the assembly process. In the meantime, look around your area for cell phone "headsets" with the mike dangling from the earbud. They are not too fashionable these days, and can be found at walmart, and maybe some dollar stores in your area for a good price. The elements are good sounding when wired as a vocal mike. I just got back from band practice in a one car garage converted to a studio. Even in that small environment the mike is clear and has high gain before feedback. There are speakers everywhere, and a condensor mike usually will feedback when surrounded by the sound like that. I think the close proximity to the face and nature of the boom design is helping to minimize it. Because I use the single earset type, I can easily forget it's on at all, so that's a concern if you walk away with it still connected. :p
Bands with extremely high stage volume could have feedback issues, but ours doesn't seem to in the small studio with drums and all in there.

God bless!
