I am in Los Angeles, CA for 10 days. Is there a rumba here, like the Central Park rumba on Sundays in New York? I have been going to the Central Park rumba off and on for 35 years. If anyone knows where there is a Cuban rumba in LA, where people play and sing in clave, I would appreciate finding out. I am not looking for a drum circle but a guaguanco / columbia rumba. Gracias.

Hi JC,
Thanks for the response. I already came home from LA, left Sunday morning. In past years I have gone to Griffith Park on Sundays and it has been more of a drum circle type jam session than an organized rumba con clave. Maybe it has changed recently. Back to Central Park/Orchard Beach.

Hi JC,
Yeah, I have been going occasionally to the rumbas at Sports Plus Cafe on Castle Hill Ave since CC got the place for us in February, 2004. Great rumba, but it starts really late for Sunday nights, not good for those of us who work early Monday mornings! We tried to get people to come earlier, but no matter what we tried, the rumberos don't really start coming until about 11 or 12, se forma la rumba about 1 am, and it goes until 3 or 4. Now I go sometimes when Monday is a holiday. I haven't been there in a few months, but will probably go the Sunday before Labor Day.
