Well after many years dreaming of the day that I would see Los Van Van live in person, it seems it is finally going to happen.
They are performing at a local venue here in Sydney on August 25th! I have tickets up front on the dancefloor!
I have been recovering from some surgery for the last 2 months so I aint been out much at all and only done 1 gig since Easter, (due to surgery prep etc) so this will be an unbelievable experience for me.

I have no doubt I will have tears! A dream come true.
One of my all time favourite groups. The unmistakeable sound of Van Van.. wow, Im am so excited.
I was a child when I first heard their music, instantly I was hooked!

They will also be performing in the next state south at some festival, already planning a road trip to check it all out.

Stay tuned for the pics and concert review...

Tiger gives Los Van Van 2 thumbs up!

I went to a river deck night club called Katmandu here in Philly a few years ago and LVV were on stage. Unbelievable! Every latino/hispanic dance couple in the city showed up and put on a display that was almost as astounding as the band. I just sat back and let the whole experience wash over me. It was a jaw-droping experience. Now, you'll have it.

Pedro Calvo as in Pedrito? Brother, he left the band many years ago and last recorded with them in 1999.

Juan Formell is still the band director, with Samuel his son as co-director. At times through the concerts, Juan passes the bass to another band member and he moves to the front to do vocals or raps or simply to hype certain sections of the band or to walk off and have some rum! hehehehe.

No way I'll be dissapointed, I have almost all of their albums! The stuff they have been bringing out since the album Amparame and more so the album Te Pone La Cabeza Mala has been awesome. They have redefined their sound and trademarked it since then. Always moving forward and yet clearly identifyable Van Van sound.

More Van Van info at their site: http://www.vanvandeformell.com/orquesta.php

Cant wait!

I really would like to have a recording when I was in Cuba and they have this 'Mano a Mano' with the other one in the hit parade at that time,La Monumental,Los Latinos,Los Reyes 73,(with Lele, the singer),La Ritmo Oriental,...it was like the whole stage would be on fire.Dr. Zaragemca

I'm sorry if this is a stupid question or makes anyone angry, but as I don't speak spanish I don't know (maybe) some important things ???
What has latin music in Cuba and/or Los Van Van in particular to do with Castro. How much is latin music influenced by communism.
As I just know the situation in China (don't wanna compare them, CCP is really evil), where everything (life, music, religion, number of children,etc....) is controlled by the communist party. So how is the situation in Cuba?
