What's up congueros,
I checked out Samuel Torres last Sunday afternoon at the Blue Note here in NYC. I was very impressed with his musicianship and his chops on the drums. This cat was highly energetic and passionate about his craft.

He had an unusual set-up where he had 5 tumbadoras, a djembe on his left and a cajon sitting underneath him. He also did a magnificient solo with maracas for about 4 or so minutes! One word that will define Samuel Torres for me, would be... ...Explosive! I definitely recommend you check out his show.

Yes, I agree. I was out of town for this last show, but have seen him 2 times in the past year. He is a monster, and a very "musical" conguero. Anyone interested in conga playing should check him out live, if they have the chance.
