hello to everyone im new to this site and fairly new to conga drumming,i've been playing for about 3 years but had to really go back and revamp my playing im in the washington dc area and we have a music called go go ,,that to me really teaches u bad habbits in conga playing .any way,my question or observation for my own playing is that i can get enough melodie out of 2 drums as i can 3 or 4,but most of the time i either dont want to carry that many or dont have the space.my question is what rythms would anbody suggest to get the most out of 2 drums

hey boogie i think i met you on myspace - right?
I pimped congaplace to you and now you're here!
WELCOME to congaplace.

Do you have an instructor that can teach you Afro-Cuban rudiments for 2 drums? If not check out a good instructional DVD. There is a thread in the forums dedicated to DVD instruction. Of all of the DVD methods I prefer Tomas Cruz. There are 3 volumes priced at $25 each ( book & DVD). Volume II revolutionized my playing. There are many rhythms on the DVD for 2 drums including timba patterns. Here is the link to the Tomas Cruz thread to hear what others here have to say.
