Don't know if any of the London based members caught this show, but went to see Eddie Palmieri at the Jazz Cafe last night. What a show!! Some amazing players, and even got to shake the great man's hand afterwards.

The name of the conguero escapes me, but he was absolutely perfect for the gig (if anyone can remind me, please do...). Powerful but tasteful playing, and some brilliantly controlled soloing.

Was lucky to spend the gig watching from the DJ box, with Snowboy (no introduction needed), and Dean Rudland, who has the lucky job of trawling through the entire collection of FANIA studio tapes to put together compilations/reissues and first issues of previously unreleased material).

Hope this post doesn't come across as one big name-drop - just wanted to share the moment. None of my workmates in the office today have a clue or give a hoot......

Have a good wekend :)

Hey mate, do you know of Will Fry? He is a London based percussionist and is currently playing with my former band Son Veneno (formerly from Sydney Aus), they are frequently joined up front by MC Mystro, Holly O and Osvaldo Chacon.
Steve aka Chubs is the drummer/timbalero. Have you met them? Im sure they wouldve been there last night if they werent gigging at Guanabara....

Did you happen to get any pics or vids from the night? Would be good to see what Eddie is up to these days and what line up he is using.

For a while there he had Giovanni on tumbadoras.

Hi Hermanos

I missed EP at the Jazz Cafe this time, but caught him last time he was over, when he had Gio and El Negro with him---Boss!!!

MJW-it would be interesting to know who he had with him this time and to watch from the DJ box with your man Snowboy..................

Abakua-I know Will Fry, he is from Brighton-on the South Coast, I bought my Palladiums from him. He is one up and coming young dude, and they wont go wrong with him.
