Tonio,
Yes, I have this. It is a smoker. Hard, NYC style Salsa dura. I have lots of recordings where Papo Pepin plays congas and none of it disappoints. I think more congueros should pay attention to Papo's playing style. The man's tumbao variations are crisp and he's equally proficient repicando on quinto. He's the conguero on Jose Mangual, Jr.'s Tribute to Chano Pozo volume II and it's a must have, IMO.

afrocubarico,

thanks for the reply. Everything I have heard from Papo is hot.
I 'll get Papo's new one and Jose Mangual, Jr.'s Tribute to Chano Pozo from descarga. The only place I can find them.

Tonio,
Yes, Descarga.com seems to be the place to find those hard to find gems. I just got Saludando A Los Rumberos by Virgilio Marti on CD from them. It was almost impossible to find elsewhere.

Make sure that you p/u the second volume of Mangual, Jr.'s Tribute To Chano. That's the one where Pepin plays conga on. Another one of Mangual, Jr.'s CD that's also a must have is Dancing With The Gods. Pepin plays congas on this one as well along with Mangual, Jr. and Roberto Quintero. Believe me, you can't go wrong with these titles.
