Saludos Hermanos
I Know that some of you are going to say i have too much time on my hands. But, i have always asked my self this question:
Why so many congueros wear kangols?
Is this an unofficial identification of a conguero? if so'
Who started it?
I mean, even poncho has his own line of kangol hats.
is it a conicidence?

I put a collection of congueros who wear kangols and as expected the collection was fairly easy to find.
you may recognize your picture in the collection (if you wear a kangol). these were searcehed from the net and put together in no particular order.

Seems like Patato and Aguabella were among the first to start this conguero trend.

wanted to see if anyone had any info, thoughts, comments, or older pictures of congueros with Kangols.

thanks and God bless

OZ

I also wear one on every gig I play... :D I've just seen all my mentors and master congueros wear them, so I figured it was in the tradition... :D

Once I read somewhere how Patato showed for some begining conguero how to use toilet paper to get proper shape of the kangol. Should be old tradition :D

Here's one of the last of the real old timers from Havana, rumbero Mario 'Chavalonga' Dreke.

Congadelica, try big department stores--John Lewis, Fenwicks.

Trad style is peak forward, does wearing it backwards have any significance?

Abakua,
Sorry the pic of Chavalonga didn't load.
Here is the pic, wearing his hat of course.
Pavlo
p.s. I hung out and studied with Chava and friends in his house in Havana. He was still singing at that time, I hope he's still well. Such a humble man.
