All of the Afro-Cuban fans heading to California for the workshops are in for a treat.

Sandy Perez and several members of AfroCuba de Matanzas are going to be performing in the SF Bay area August 4th and 5th.

They will be joined by the best Cuban players and dancers in the Bay including:

Jesus Diaz and Eric Barbaria, Francisco Barroso, Susana Arenas, among others.

This should be one of the best folkloric shows in the bay in years, I hope you all can make it!

August 4th 8:00 at Dance Mission Theater (24th and Mission in SF) $15

August 5th 8:00 at La Pena Cultural Center 3105 Shattock Ave in Oakland $15

Whoo Tony! You know I'm there on the 5th! Sandy is my man, I've had lessons from him and his folks. There will be Domingo de Rumba on Sunday as well at La Pena from 3:30-6pm. See you there!

We got a late start on getting the word out, so we are depending on word of mouth and emails, mostly.

Thanks!!

I was just at a party last night here in Humboldt with Sandy and all the other greats! The guy really isn't from this planet, but he's certainly a lot of fun at a party!!!!
At one point he and I snuck around to the back of the house to see if we could get in without wading through the crowd to the back room where the drums were, and we heard the rumba going in through the back wall. It sounded so awesome! He and I were swaying and dancing a bit, and then he couldn't resist anymore and ran back to the front to dive in!
He truly loves the music and just doesn't stop. :D
If you haven't seen the guy play, you just have to go and see him!
And btw. Rey G is another huge force! A space alien in his own right! He is always the one in charge of the rumba!

Yep, I'm going, just got an album by Steve Coleman where he
plays with them, rumba with sax solo's. It's good...I was looking
for an Anga/ Steve collaboration, but found a Steve / AfroCuba collaboration instead. A pleasant surprise..............................................G!
