Local Goodwill store turned up a nice treasure in the form of a nice used leather doctor's bag.

Just about the right size, and lots of pockets....

Awesome! I have an almost identical case that I use for all of my accessories. Yours is a lot nicer though. I've really wanted to find one of those cases that actually expands as you open it, but I don't think it would be that practical as a percussion case as cowbells and the like take up an awful lot of space.

at $3.50. I reckon it's a lot more practical than any purpose made percussion case, and I'm contributing to charity with my purchase! :p

Just call me Docta Rumba!

That's a good find, bongosnotbombs. Good Will prices around these parts many times are not what they use to be, but still a good deal, and as you say, goes to good causes. Think I'll soon be rummaging for one myself, as a nylon sports bag I recently purchased already has a rip. Thanks! for the idea.

I was actually looking for a small suitcase, when this beauty called to me. Suitcases and briefcases are a dime a dozen at the Goodwills.

The suitcases often have pockets and stuff for putting the small instruments in, and can have that awesome vintage look if you find a right one!

A previous Goodwill find of mine...

All packed and ready to go. Best of all no one has a clue what's inside......till it's too late!

shoots, I could be anyone, for all anyone could tell from the looks of my bags.

Not bad for less than $10.00. Now go spend the money I've saved you on some new skins!

Give me a He** Yeah! I LOVE to see it when something that would have been a throwaway is given a second life! Pallets into dunun stands... legs of worn-out Levi's sewn into stick bags... incense canisters into shakers... excess cowhide into rattles and dog-chews. I wonder how many cases just like that I've passed on in the thrift store and not even occur to me to use it for all my percussion thing-a-ma-jigs!

That last one is a great find! I found a similar one in the streets of New York, that has wheels
and a retractable handle. It's big enough to hold my timbales. I just need to fix one of the locks,
which is why some photography production company tossed it.

I thought I would try and revive this thread instead of starting a new one to see if anyone has any suggestions for a case or a well cushioned bag for my bara drum here. The width is about 20 inches and the height is about 18 inches. It's really fragile because all it is is a gourd - and a fairly thin walled one at that! Something as classy as BNB's doctor's bag would be great!
