There’s gotta be a way
I’m no programmer whiz-bang type…but I can dream of possibilities, can’t I?
There are those among us who know the tedious-ness of both inputting and and/or counting while trying to align and make sense of all those XoXooXXoXoXoX’s when trying to explain a particular rhythm or concept.
I’ll be the first to admit I have glossed over some interesting discussion that was plastered with
oXoXoXXoXoXoXXoX’s because it was just too laborious (or was I too lazy?) to wade through all that.
There surely is a solution....
I imagine a choice on the input screen where we all type in our posts…
……you know the menu bar above the text box where you type in your postings: where one can choose to make text
bold or
italic, or insert URL’s,
change font colors, blah, blah…
…there would also be a choice to “
Insert Table”….kinda like what’s possible in a MS Word document.
Inserting a table would give one a choice to make a “box notation” grid of rows and columns.
It would be customizable: choose how many rows and columns (to a limited extent).
After you have defined your grid…easy…you would be able to fill the cells with the
Beat Count: 1e+a2e+a, etc
Symbols: XoXo, or HTSO, etc
The result on the posted page would look something like a “quotation box”,
But instead it would contain the already defined box notation grid, which contains the rhythm to be illustrated
Being able to insert a table like that would make both inputting & reading notation to communicate a rhythm a much easier experience.
The easy part is dreaming it up…the tough part is making it happen, and …duh… I’m not the one to do it.
I’d be interested to know if there is any expertise out there that might be able to speak to the subject.
I imagine it’s not rocket science…probably just plugging in some sort of VB (or whatever programming language) module to the existing structure of the forum user interface
It’s not beyond the realm of possibility.
It may not be technically feasable with this forum interface...but wouldn't it be cool?
