Now these I could really get into, I'm sure they can make
quite a racket, but thats probably part of the fun...

you can tell the designers actually made an effort to get the names and the shapes right.
I wonder when the next Golden Gate Park planning commision is............?

Well,.... :o I don´t know, those are interesting designs for sure.
And they make sense in parks, that´s true. I would not fancy one
of those metallic monsters in my living-room though
As to "you can tell the designers actually made an effort to get the names and the shapes right",
yes, BnB, but on the other hand, saying ´the names that micic their sound, quinto, conga, tumba ´etc.
the designers don´t come TOO close to the origins, do they?

yeah, thats a mistake, but at least they are not calling their djembe bongos, and
congas tom toms, like I've heard some people that should know better...

but hey, no need to worry about how your going to schlep your drums to the drum circle,
they're already there! :!:

I think it's a great idea! We should have more things like that in parks:)

Awesome! This is a great idea. I especially like the name, "Slapped Pipes." Hope to see more of these crop up. If not I'll have to make them myself. I can't resist playing the sculptures out there now. I like the seats as drums idea as well. Thanks for posting!

Great stuff!!! Absolutely love them. Lots better than the welded metal scrap adorning some of our parks....And BTW what happens when a group of citizens with rhythm on their minds decide to venture to the park and "play" the sculpture at 2 AM? Is the Gestapo going to haul them away?

We've got one of those parabolic benches here in Boulder.

Are any of those drum places already in parks somewhere? Were we just looking at prototypes, or are these already made for the public somewhere?

A lot of them have been installed, they have a projects page..

They have some of their work installed in San Francisco at some of the
light rail stops for a new line added recently.

That's fantastic! With all of the terrible tragedy and suffering in the world, the tearing down of what's best in men,,, it's inspiring to see that someone somewhere is making architecture like that, and there's someone around who can enjoy it firsthand! :D
