I made these lug covers from 1/2 inch ID tubing found in any hardware store. I made enough to cover 3 drums for under $3.00, I hope this helps someone its simple and works well.

i like....do they slide off and on easily when you need to tune up?

These would be great for someone that uses synthetic heads that rarely need tuning.

Yes they slide up and down easy I use a deep socket on a ratchet and since they are cut around the nut and washer it also flares to accomadate a reg. wrench. Adapt and overcome is a motto I have live by for many years.

Sure beats expensive shell protectors like LP's.
I bought some used drums without shell protectors so I ordered 6 sets - $50 bucks.
The store told me LP has them on back-order (for over 4 months now).
Now I'm glad, I can use these and save.

I use a ratchet also, thanks for the great idea.

Awsome Idea docarroyo. Could you please post a picture of the protector itself so that we can see the cut?

Hey LouRumba sorry but I did not see your post on ebay, my Matt Smith conga had tubing on the thread of the lugs to protect the other drums and I thought a larger hose might work around the washer which it did. I thought it was an original idea but if you would like the credit for it its yours. I'm not selling anything just sharing something that worked for me and hopefully will help others. I live una vida sana If I have caused you any trouble in any way I'm truly sorry but again I did not see your post. If you like I will delete this entry please let me know.

Lol I get it. Someone's trying to claim the idea. That's very humorous.

No, you don't have to. Like I said, they look like. I only sold like a dozen sets. I expected to die off as soon as the idea would catch on. "Live and let live." Peace.

I posted the Lug covers in 2009 here are my version simple and they just slide up and down for easy tunning.
