Gene Perry & Latin Orchestra

Anyone go to the show last night? Derbeno?

It was a good show, Gene has changed his style-with some added pyrotechnics. I lke his old skool style better, but sometimes we need a change. Perhaps for Salsa it was approrpiate.

Sorry you missed it. It was a last minute deal for me, I know someone (or 2) that is a member and takes the jazz class at city college.

No, Yosvany was not there. Miguel Holguin was on timbales, He was pretty impressive ! Allan Philips (piano) meastro is killer on piano. Joey de Leon was on bongo/cencerro. He was playing the new LP Dandy model.

The show was at the KSDS Jazz Live @ Saville theater -free.

Alot of people showed up: Tommy Aros, Roy Gonzales to name a few.

What do you think of Gene's new "style"?

BTW Pete Escovedo is playing (for free) this saturday at National city Pepper park !!4:45 Cabalellero quinteto (Bill) 's group will be opening about 2ish. I've played at that venue a few times, decent paying gig. The lineup is smaller , but better it seems.http://www.ci.national-city.ca.us/index ... ordid=1191

i never saw Gene at the Bomba class. Though, I have'nt gone in a while. Isn't the Afro -cuban class after that? How is that class-teacher?
