My Bauer conga sterted to crack under the brackets .
I bolted a washer on the hole ,scored around with a scraper .
Chiseled out the thickness of the washer .
Superglued the washer in there and sanded smooth .

Than filled up the inside of the bracket .
Leedy advised me to drill an extra hole !
witch would also distribute the tension better
It's a cast metal bracket so, for me , drilling was no option .

i filled up the open spaces with milliput so the pressure is better distributed .

From the inside i took the rubbers to protect the tub away .
The inside plates i hammered flat and they harden to .
The washer on the inside pushed the rubber in the tub by pressure .
That caused the cracks -i think-
I used big washers on the inside .
Three different diameters each a bit bigger than the former

The conga is fine now no cracks no more .
And still sounds great .

Gleud the barrel on 6 places .4 Where from top to bottem.


Made a half cirkle

Making the other half of the circle . For extra strenght and more gleu surface.















My totally wrecked playa azul conga .
Made from Walnut.
Put the skin on to try . It sounds great!!!!
Wanted to know if it was worth the work!
And if i was going to fix the quinto -witch is in an even worse state - up to!!
Witch i will now !!!

And the backing plates i've made to .
The only backing was the small washer !

The only thing left to do is to sand it down and put the original hoops back on .
Than its back in its original state, minus the stand holes witch i filled up .

My Sonoc Bata Bought for a bargain price .
The black paint was covering little of the surface .
I filled up all the bracket holes with old drumsticks .
These holes where all worn out and to big for there screws.
After lackering ïll drill them again

Sanded it down , scraped all fthe filler out .
Then filled the depressions up with supergleu .
Layer after layer of supergleu filled it slowely up.
The nice thing of this method is that the supergleu takes on the color of the wood underneath!

I like my drums in natural wood !

then fixed up the bearing edges .
They where verry crude,so i filled them up with mililput ,
then sanded them down to shape .
I am varnishing it now .

That Azul repair job of yours is awesome, really masterly done.
Would have been quite a challenge for many of us indeed.

Now i'm hoping for more people to show there handy work here !!

My ultimately toughest repair job was regluing the staves
of my LP mahogany bongó which had completely fallen apart.
That was quite nerve-wrecking at first, but fortunately it turned out fine.
I used the good old rope technique, but I did not take a picture as I was too
-- absorbed, not to say gone mental

And I did not need a shrink for my Gon Bops resto job either
There were some nasty cracks, but nothing that Titebond and woodfiller
could not manage to mend, and the additional epoxying of the outside shell
has added strength - no cracks have occurred ever since.
The effort was definitely worth it, I love those babies now

Yep, the epoxy I used is quite clear. If you snad it carefully before
finishing the surface with lacquer you have the option of matte or clear/brilliant varnish
