My Reduced Rating - Rational Basis?

It's only thanks to your help if we can improve our web-site so ... leave a message here!

Ok, after some testing, Ive learnt I can disable the 'rating' feature.

All those in favour say "I" and its gone.

Its a feature the forum software has automatically, just like editing, PM etc.
No one has dropped your rating. You cant even drop someones rating.
If someone rates you 'up' it stays at that until someone rates you higher, though, for some reason the rating does drop pending on how frequent or infrequent you post.
I had somehow gotten to 5 and when i left on tour and was posting very little, it dropped again.

I agree its completely useless. Bears no reflection on how valuable a forum member one is.

If the masses want it gone, then I will see if I can disable the feature if everyone seems to be in agreement.

All good by me.

And yes, welcome back.

Abakua,

Thanks for the enlightenment, bro! I appreciate it! Now, I feel all red in the face with embarrassment! It has only made me realize that, in reality, I'm not as trusting as I think I am and I'm more paranoid than I think. LOL!!!

Nevertheless, I apologize for any of my suspicions.

And thanks for the warm welcome back, bro!

Me, too!

IMO, there's really nothing to gain from it, but it can actually irk some members and is open to abuse.

Man, for some who's as verbose as I am, the immediately preceding post is definitely the shortest reply that I've ever posted here on CongaBoard! Definitely one for the books!

Sorry, I just had to say this and laugh at myself which I definitely have no qualms about! LOL!!!

And so, the people asked and it was given to them.. The great evil of the rating system was removed, people rejoiced, drums were played.

Back to the drum now! :D

Abakua,

Hallelujah, indeed!

Thanks for doing so. If only for being one of the catalysts for the removal of the "dreaded" rating system, :D my resubscribing has been all worth it for me.

Now, I can unsubscribe again...in peace! Just kidding!

I must admit that you do put up some of the best graphics on CongaBoard (these drums are simply gorgeous), as well as those with the most effective impact! They help convey your remarkable wit behind them, too! Dang, why do you think I got pissed with you in the past!

The beauty of Congaplace is that it's not a formal school or college. It's where we
love to "virtually" hang together and learn without judging or being judged.
Therefore grading doesn't belong here. It's one of the few places we can
escape to without fear or unwanted stress. I recently saw my own
"score" drop, leading me to beleive someone is lurking and causing
a negative vibe all of a sudden. I must admit it bothered me for a day,
but I'm over it...and want to focus on the good stuff.
I move we get rid of the ratings. If someone has a beef with someone let
them email privately.

How bout a way to 'score' points by helping others on the forum perhaps??

You get helped by someone, you give them a point. no neg. feedback needed. Just an idea...
