Say Hello to our Italian Brothers. - break on thru to the other side.

It's only thanks to your help if we can improve our web-site so ... leave a message here!

I joined the Italian site and started a thread saying Hello to them.

I would like to start a thread here, extending our greetings to the members of the Italian language site and I will link this thread on the English site into the other thread onto the Italian site so our Italian speaking brothers can see it and possibly read it.

Please respond in any language you like and include cool pictures so we can break the language barrier!

My wife and I just went to Firenze "Florence" and a few other places in Italy a couple of months ago. Man that is a beautiful country, with interesting culture that is very different from here in the states. I kept telling my wife while staying in Florence... Honey, this is the "Land of beautiful brunette women!!!" She couldn't say but so much.. Her family is from Luca and Florence, and I am married to her, so maybe it was a compliment.. she'll never know ;-)

Although they don't seem but so enthusiased about U.S. visitors "which I understand", I couldn't help but notice that ALL they listened to was music out of the U.S. If the U.S.A is respected for nothing else, the world surely respects it for it's music.

Yup, music and high technology are probably our most respected exports not only to Italy but to the entire European continent, as well.

I, personally, haven't traveled to Italy (but I'd love to), much more "Firenze" or Florence, but my wife has when she was still single.

As someone whose first college course choice was Architecture, I'm simply enamoured by the Italians' innate genius for design, be it architecture, painting, sculpture, clothing, cars, cuisine, etc.

As far as culture is concerned, many European countries, including Italy and France, (with their thousands of years of culture) rightly or wrongly consider Americans (whose country is "still" just over 200 years old) to still be rather infantile (in the least) or even barbaric (at worst).

Add to this the perception or misperception by Europeans of many American tourists as acting like arrogant, spoiled brats. :(
