Additionally, parts like tuning nuts & washers should have come with nylon washers sandwiched between the two other washers, the main washer on the lug, then a nylon washer & then the washer before the tuning nut. This reduces metal on metal friction & acts like a bearing for smoother, less friction tuning. Proper alignments of tuning system & keeping the hooks centered in the lug saddles, eliminates the threads from scratching against other metal surfaces. I feel many lug designs do not allow enough clearances for the moving parts to function with out some future damage. I often use thin nylon sleeves on the threads of the tuning hook or rod, to keep the tuning rod centered in lug saddles & eliminate metal on metal.
