I decided to start this topic because I am often looking for lyrics and I thought I wasn't the only one.

So, let's start right here. I am looking for lyrics for 'hay fuego en el 23'. The original song was (I think) from La Sonora Poncena.

I remember this from Arsenio Rodriguez "Sabroso y Caliente," it was composed by the great pianist Lili Martinez. Here's a sample on this compilation.

Anyone has the lyrics? I cannot find them on the net.

Whoo. Tough one because most of the lyrics are improvised by the lead singer, Santitos Colon. The chorus is "Oye, Cayuco..Oye mi Cha-Cha-Cha." From Tito Puente's "Dance Mania (Vol 1)"- 1958.

Just improvise your own like these guys: Tito Puente Orchestra- "El Cayuco" Too many bands try to sound like the original recording.

Yeah, I know and that's what we do on most of the songs, but I'd love to get the original 'letras'.

Yeah that's the problem us non Spanish speakers have, we may be able to pick-up the coro, but that's just a small part of the song. The improvised lead, that's where the problem is. If you're fortunate enough to know Spanish and you make-up your own lyrics, then you're well ahead of the game IMO. Most published lyrics do not have much of, if any of the lead lyrics. With that said, anyone have any of the lyrics to the songs on William Cepedas's "Groupo Afro Boricua" CD? Love that CD. Also can anyone recomend any other all Bomba Cd's? One last question. Is there any other Mozambique Cd's besides that famous one by Pello? Does anyone have lyrics to that one, and did Pello do any other recordings? Much Thanks!

I have two CD's by Pello "Nace En Cuba El Mozambique" and "Un Sabor Que Canta." Plus a few songs from compilations like "Las Jardineras," and "Mamita, La Jardinera," from "Cuba- Fully Charged."

Here's a great collection of rumba lyrics, which contains "Chano en Belen," from Pello's "Un Sabor Que Canta."

Hey thanks tocandorumba! "Un Sabor Que Canta" Is a rumba cd huh! I'm familiar with the Cancionero Rumbero publication, however; never noticed that Pello song on there. Wait I know that song, but from what cd? Think Its a "Yoraba Andabo" CD. Anyway, thanks! Will have to add the "Nace En Cuba.." cd to my collection.

I have the chance to speak Spanish I lived 7 years in Belize), but I always like to get the exact lyrics.. Sometimes, even in English , lyrics are not obvious.. ans I am French, and it is the same in French songs (even if they all suck, so this is not a real problem).
