Isn't he holding the wrong end of that beater?

A recolored version of previously posted painting.
In this one the drummer is hot and the dancer is cool. (colorwise)
Her movement is accentuated by her flailing arms and a thumpingly kinetic rear end.

I noticed that on that 1958 album they spell "merengue" (the music) like "meringue" the dessert. Amazing that anyone learns anything from albums or liner notes. Record looks good though.

I have heard that Meringue is the French spelling for a Haitian Dance. Haiti has more music than Vaudou drumming. I have been looking for a recording of Haitian Meringue music for some time, but haven't found any. Is it similar to Merengue?

You might also strike gold here http://www.folkways.si.edu/. Follow the Carribean link. There's also tonnes of other music there to choose from.

I found this years ago. A few years back I tried to find it on the web again to no avail.
