I'd like the big guy on the tumba, average size guy on the tres, and a little skinny guy playing quinto.

Ideally.....

I'd like quinto+conga+tumba and they would only weigh 1 LB each.
They would be foldable into a wallet size space for easy transport.
They would be twice as loud as any drum on earth.
They would never give me callouses cause they would feel like playing fluffy clouds -even when cracking the loudest slaps.

I'd also like to be able to rub them and a genie would come out and grant me 3 wishes.
I would then wish for more congas just like these and keep getting new genies and new wishes each time.
I would then take over the earth with my magical congas and turn it into a peaceful conga-esque paradise.

This is my ideal 3 drum setup.

HELLO, AND MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL.

MY FAVORITE THREE DRUM SET-UP, IS IN A TWO SIZE COMBO, OF ONE TUMBA, AND TWO CONGAS.

FOR A FOUR DRUM SET-UP I WOULD ADD ANOTHER CONGA (1+3).

FOR A 5 DRUM SET-UP I WOULD THEN ADD A QUINTO.

My 3 drum setup would be quinto, conga and tumba for elctrified band, for more acoustic and ambiental kind of music would be 2 congas and tumba...
Groove on!

I would hire Congamyk to make his setup work for me.

I'd first sign-up to congamyk's conga-esque paradise with streets paved in gold.

If somehow, the gig with congamyk didn't work out, I'd go with:
- 2 x congas (tuned differently) and one tumba
or,
conga, tumba and super-tumba

Three very good drums, regardless of the sizes.
At the end of the day, it is the quality of sound, also of construction and aesthetics that matter in my opinion.

Of course I do not mean to play three quintos at the same time :D
There has been a discussion a while ago around the topic of head sizes,
and I can remember someone wrote that nobody in ancient Africa would
have cared much about exact head sizes.
Well ,I cannot bring in much expertise on this historical stuff, but I do know
how I like a three-drum setup to sound.
And there is more than one configuration possible that I find more than satisfying.
With my most recent buy, I currently own 9 congas all of which can be either played
alone, in pairs, in three, 4 or 5-drum setups.
Peace & drum

Generally speaking, as this may vary slightly by manufacturer:
Quinto 11"
Conga 11.75"
Tumba 12.5"

It's matter of preference to go with this combination or a Tumba/Conga/Conga combination. Some with large hands prefer two Congas, tuning one of the Congas to Quinto.

Others prefer two Congas for the more versatile tuning/dynamic range.

What genre to you mainly play?
