That's me BB. Here ya go:

...and by the way, if you'd like more info, PM me I will be happy to provide further details to anybody who would like them. BTW been using my "CONGAPLAYTS"on all my drums with great success and have had many who comment and inquire about this unique design. Here are some additional images showing how they are used to secure the mics for transport inside the conga.
playt8.jpg
detail on how mike is secured inside PVC housing and base using simple, removable dowel.
playt9.jpg
Mic cord coiled around housing for transport.
playt7.jpg
I cut a foam collar to place around mic housing to rest on CONGAPLAYT, hold cord in place.
playt6.jpg
...which allows me to turn the CONGAPLAYT with attached mic, cord, and collar upside down so....
playt10.jpg
...I can place the entire CONGAPLAYT system inside the bottom of my conga, zip shut the bag which keeps it snugly in place, and load-up for my gig. Been doing this for years.

I have been told I should patent this, but too late. They were publicly exhibited here already awhile back, and frankly, the expense and hassle of hiring patent lawyers for something like this is just not something I can afford. On the other hand. if you're lazy or don't have the time to make something like this, I'll be happy to take orders, though believe me--as you can see-- it's pretty easy. Honestly, I'm just glad I can contribute something of value to the community of congueros.

Tick,

That is so very cool and practical. Does this arrangement create better seperation of the congas for the mix? I guess this can be hard to tell as a performer on stage but what kind of feedback have you received from sound engineers?

Happy drumming

and to add to the previous post, Congatick, what kind of sound do you get from the inside of the conga? Is there any audio or video of this setup? I tried looking through your posts, but there are a lot of them.

Jerry,
each of the conga mics are fed into a small Tapco 4 channel mixer. I usually have 5 inputs to the mixer: each of the three congas, a big remo djembe (also on a CONGAPLAYT), and bongos (stand mic). Djembe and bongos share an input. Great separation tween congas. Am not a sound engineer, but this system works quickly, easily and puts me on an equal or comparable level with all of the amplified instruments I would have to compete with. Works for me. Here are a couple fanvids at recent gigs.
