I believe the acacia wood is soft, don' know... i take it back, its hard wood. Bring it on! Let us posted plz! Enjoy creating and setting new limits!
I have talk about Acacia with a drum maker, he told me that this wood give a super powerfull sound, heavy and high pitched... seems good for a réquinto !
I have to try, Of course I will keep you informed !
Here is the Réquinto Prototype in ACACIA, Pretty easy to work, I think because the 20 years of drying in the barn !! Seems to sound Hi pitched and heavy !!!! The wood is super nice : kind of yellow with very nice drawings. I will see with the résin and varnish.
Congalu as always, great progress. Congratulations. Do you cut form or steam form the staves? it would be awesome to see a time laps video of the actuall manufacturing process of one of your drums Once again, thanks for sharing your wounderful experience and talent with us and please continue to keep us up to date. Cheers. K.C
King Conga, Joseph, it's steam bending (You can see a straight stave behind the drum on one photo). I have working with a barrel Maker who have efficients tools for that work. I will try to make a vidéo one day, but I think that you can see on the web if you search "barrel making".
Joseph, you're rignt, It looks like kind of Oak ! Very nice !
I do occasionally, and lived in the the south west for a couple of years many moons ago. PM me your address and I'll be in touch next time I come over.
Very nice logo design, however, the conga on the logo does not show the hardware Did you intend to do this I would love to have one of your drums, maybe I can commission you to build me a requinto, what do you say?
Yes, I intended to this, I want something very simple.
It could be a pleasure for me to build you a drum, but, send something from France to USA is very expensive and problematic because the wood, the skin. I don't think it's a good deal...
