RAY TURULL is a self-taught (since the age of 9), born-to-play percussionist who has appeared with such notables as Gene Hernandez y Novedades at the age of 17during the 80's Charanga Invasion and also recorded 2 albums produced by Luis Perico Ortiz on VaYa Records with Gene at 18, Jesse Herrero's SonSublime Charlie Palmieri, Johnny Colon, Dave Valentin as well as well known Rock under ground bands like Jam Band "Particle" and "Wide Spread Panic". He has appeared in venues such as Lincoln Center, Beacon Theater, Madison Square Garden, Nell's, Roseland, and The Palladium. He lead his own six-piece Latin jazz group known as "LJ5" and also was a member of Andrea Brachfeld's "Phoenix Rising," a Latin jazz-fusion group. Ray recently added the conga tracks for Celia Villar's (http://www.eljurimusic.com) new CD and is working on a new project with tres palyer Alex Fox. He recently came off the road after 3 years of touring with noted Curb Records recording artists deSol http://www.desolmusic.com. He also added the Puerto Rican Spice to deSol's latest production "On My Way". He also enjoys weight training and owns his own fitness company http://www.bootcampchallengenyc.com which caters to musicians like Paulie Z of 3 piece power Rock Band ZO2 http://www.zo2.com as well as other artists when not gigging.
