About me

Originally from the lower east side I now reside in West Haverstraw New York in Rockland County. Having left the hood and the Barrio over 20 years ago. I have found myself becoming nostalgic for days gone by. I tell who ever will listen how when I was coming up "you knew summer had arrived because starting in the late afternoon all the way to dawn, there would be the sound of congas in the air." " sometimes far away, and now a little closer. did I hear the ring tone of a campana?" As a consequence of these ruminations I was given a conga for my birthday a couple of years ago by my wife, although my town was once called "Little Puerto Rico" there aren't any congeros or rumberos that I can find. So I bought myself a second drum a Tumba and just started going at it in the park tirando guanguanco calling my people. However I would love to be able to sit down with other drummers and remeber the days. I was one of the little indios playing in street in the "pumpa" waterfalls. Now I'm a big Indio trying to hold on to the way.
