Are they whitish wood, or slightly reddish wood? I was thinking of keeping my eye out for a cherry wood set.

OK, I checked the date, and they are 1996. I'm sure they are the beech ones, slightly reddish/beige I suppose. If I remember correctly the LP Valje cherry is more on the white side came out in 1998 or so?

Think I can get $500? They are are in good shape, will post pics to see what you guys think. I nromally don't sell unless I have a dire need, and don't do ebay. I regret selling my Gon Bops 80's era.

I would think that cherry would be more reddish and beech more white, but what do I know. Post a pic if you can.

hmm , maybe it is cherry.
snip from Descarga-descriptin of the newer "Armando Peraza series LP Valje" is in Beechwood. Its hard to tell from pictures vs web page sceen shot, but AP Valjes are much whiter.
So I have the Cherries !!

If in doubt keep them. These are not going to get you a small fortune. If someone is selling a beat up set for 500 and somebody buys them? more power to the seller. That does not mean that your set will sell for more. Most people I know are looking for the real Valjes. These are ok, but don't compare. Just ask owners of real vintage Valjes.

They don't look red enough to be cherry wood, judging by the picture.

The breeze, definately. I could sell them to subsidize for another better set. To be announced soon  I've played real Valje's and do like them, but by the age there are not many in good shape. Considering the cost of vintage sets, I doubt I would ever try to get a set.

WBB, true the LP used American cherry stock that is rather whitish. Just depends on the cut. The heartwood is dark, and outter stock is white/creme. A good example is redwood- it has a mix of red/white lumber stock in Home depot etc.http://www.bingamanlumber.com/cherry-lumber.asp
Even my Isla cherries have a few margins of white/creme color wood.
Still interested?

Let me think about it and get back to you. I've got to run through the budget with the wife and see what kind of cash can be parted with for new drums right now.

So you're sure those are cherry wood?
