maelopr wrote:Hey guys, just wanted to share an interesting dicovery I made concerning Meinl Luis Contes and remo heads. I've been playing a pair of TOCA fiberglass congas, on which I mounted remo fiberskyn crimplocks(the humidity down in PR being as it is...). I recently bought a Meinl LC tumba to match an ooold natural Marathon Quinto I had, the ones with the black trad.hardware... Well anyways, I had an extra Remo tumba head lying around and measured it up to the factory rim on the LC, and voila', a perfect fit! So I mounted it, and tuned it up, and although the rim is a little high, the head fit perfectly, albeit a little tight. I cranked it up, got it tuned up to the conga range fairly easily , and man it sounded fat, monster slaps...and it looks cool on the drum!! I was going to buy the 11 3/4 next, but now I might buy another tumba... As it's been previously discussed, nothing can compare to GOOD natural skins, but just wanted to throw you guys this alternative if humidity ever becomes an issue.. The remo head that fit my tumba is crimplock model #M4-1250-TC, in case any one wants to try it out...just my 2 cents...Saludos!!
