Postby Congadelica » Tue Sep 02, 2008 4:53 pm

Its good to see your inovation SalseroBoricua .

A few more questiones .
I have good skins at the moment on my Meinl Marathons which are the same shell as your LC`s . would it be possible to just buy the LP rims and then hoops separate .

Ok next question were did you buy the LP parts.
Im sure this mod will make a serious difference to the desired sonic s I would like from my Meinls .

Gracias

Marco

Have you ever tried the Synthetic Heads on your Meinls???? There is talk about the Remo " Crimplock Symmetry" for Marathon Classic. I am curious

Remo has the " Crimplock Symmetrys". Remo is saying, they are made for the "SSR Rims"! Did your " LC"S " have the "SSR " rims? What is your opinion on the sound from the synthetics? I am not sure I understand where the cusions go.

So Steven, how many sets of traditional rims have you purchased? All your drums got-em. They are like 50$ a rim right? so new heads and new rims would cost a fella about 300$. :( is there anyplace online where you can buy used conga parts? (hey a guy can dream can't he? :) )

Hey guys, just wanted to share an interesting dicovery I made concerning Meinl Luis Contes and remo heads. I've been playing a pair of TOCA fiberglass congas, on which I mounted remo fiberskyn crimplocks(the humidity down in PR being as it is...). I recently bought a Meinl LC tumba to match an ooold natural Marathon Quinto I had, the ones with the black trad.hardware... Well anyways, I had an extra Remo tumba head lying around and measured it up to the factory rim on the LC, and voila', a perfect fit! So I mounted it, and tuned it up, and although the rim is a little high, the head fit perfectly, albeit a little tight. I cranked it up, got it tuned up to the conga range fairly easily , and man it sounded fat, monster slaps...and it looks cool on the drum!! I was going to buy the 11 3/4 next, but now I might buy another tumba... As it's been previously discussed, nothing can compare to GOOD natural skins, but just wanted to throw you guys this alternative if humidity ever becomes an issue.. The remo head that fit my tumba is crimplock model #M4-1250-TC, in case any one wants to try it out...just my 2 cents...Saludos!!

Wepa Boricua. Nothing wrong with them Remo heads I have seen the heavies, from Giovanni Hidalgo to Dandy Rodriguez used them.
No doubt in high humidity places like P.R. Remo heads come real handy. I truly believe you need to have good quality natural skins
and Remo heads in your arsenal because you never know.....
