Bendiciones Brothers,

I am looking in to getting a bongo stand for seated players. I own the free ride Meinl bongos... I have no problem finding them out on the net, but I wondering what type of feed back do any of you have on the stands that LP, Meinl and gibralter makes...

Any of you seated stand owners out there care to give your feed back, great! Also, other then Meinl's stand; do you think the LP and Gibralter stand would work for my bongos?

Thanks for your time,
Ilu Ache,
Ivan

Matador bongo stand, at its lowest is perfect for my seated position. However, be aware, strapping attachment that secures bongo cross-piece, doesn't hold as firm as I would like it to be, and tightening it down repeatedly tends to strip the threads on the screw. Even with that, still a solid enough platform for even the most hard hitting bongocero.

I have found the Meinl stand and LP stand to be the firmest.

I do not feel comfortable using a stand if Im playing just bongo/bell etc in a salsa/timba configuration. Even sitting down using a stand, Ive been invited to come up on stage play with some bands when I go out to some clubs etc, and in one case, the bongocero was using a stand, I felt it just wasnt the same feeling. I dont dig it either...

However, when I am playing with one of my Hip Hop/Funk/other bands where I have a set up that includes 3 congas on stands, stands with bells, tambourines, ago go, shakers, caxixi, chimes, chekere etc etc I include bongo on a stand, infront of the congas.
(I play standing always)

Abakua/Congatick,
Thanks for your feedback... I like LP's seated stand better than meinl's... I don't know why, but meinl's seated stand has that annoying black bar in which the bongos rest on... I could see that getting caught on my pants when getting up for the campana parts...

I think the best seated stand I've seen so far is a friend of mine here in seattle... He made his own out of a snare stand before any of the major manufacturers decided to start making them... It's a really nice stand.

Anyway, thanks again for your feedback!

Others, if you have something to say, by all means... :O

Hello everybody,
Pearl has just brought a new Bongo stand for seated players. (PB-500). I wonder if it´s of any good ?? I´d say a horizontal position of bongos can´t be very good or comfortable to play, respectively. Even with my heavy Afro bongos, I play them leg-held most of the time. Like ABAKUA, I like them on my Meinl stand in front of the congas at times (viewed from the audience).
