Danzón - Patterns for the tumbadoras

Greeting,'Almendra' is a Danzon,composed by Abelardo Valdez,if you are explaining that they did this arrangement for this song that is understandable,It is also true that the Cinquillo have been used by the cuban orquestas many times,(but in a different parameters),it was what the New Orleans musicians would call,(Cake-Walk). I was amazed when I came to the U.S., that I had to play a lot of Danzones with some of the mexicans band I did play, two of the bands were Show-Bands, so I got to play everything, in the others, it was some times requested by the people,so I got my share of being a 'Danzonero' .Dr.Zaragemca

in the ''baqueteo''with the timbales that you posted . in the second measure where do you strike the second open tone??? that open tone is written different in the first measure!! confused :^\ my best, your friend franc

I posted it as an example for this topic, hay que acordarse que es en relacion con el arrangement de "Almendra" como es tocado por los musicos en el video.
Do you have the video? It would make it easier to follow the notation while viewing/listening to the song, here you can see the musician's signature feel on their execution of the patterns/fills etc.

Hi Franc,

According to the transcription posted by Abakua, the open tone on the second measure (2 side of the clave), is played on the high timbale (en el macho).

Greeting,the Tone on the second bar is higher that the other Tone,which mean it is performed, as Tamboricua said, on the Macho, (which would be tuned higher),or creating somehow a higher pitch,( when playing it).Dr.Zaragemca
