Great pics Abakua! It looked like you guys were having a blast! Great music, good friends, cold beer, hot chicks, it may not be politically correct but that's what life is about. For real, it looked like you guys had a great time, it's nice to be able to put a face with your name Abakua. You have some really pretty friends, work it Abakua!

Hola Abakua,

Thanks for sharing the pics with us, very nice! Did you get some LP's 40th Anniversary drums? or those were loaned for that particular performance?

Saludos,

Jorge Ginorio

Que bola Jorge! No, I didnt get the 40th Anniv. drums, they belong to Cindy, former student and long time friend of mine (female conga player in the pics - see below) as her band was on before mine on the Sunday night at that venue, we agreed that I could use her gear.

For the festival, 3 Patato congas (quinto, 3 golpes, and tumba) were supplied by event production, as I do not like the sound of Patatos for my main drum, I used my classic Conga and used their patato tumba. (see below for pic)

I still have my 3 LP Classics and 3 LP Palladiums.

To everyone else who's commented in the thread, thanks for the positve comments! Sydney is a nice place, and we are fortunate to be constantly busy, our hard work, long rehearsals and name within the music scene has helped us alot.

Hey bro!

Thanks for the comments! :D
As for being the groove provider of Sydney, hehehehe, far from it bro, there are quite a few talented congueros/percussionists here.
Luckilly for me, I am one of the busiest ones here out of the latin guys at the moment, and I am thankfull for it.

Maybe your pics need to be resized? Too big in KB..
Do you have an image resizer program, tonnes of em on the net.
And yeh, thats Cindy in the pics. There a few pics of her in this thread, go back to check em out, she played with her afro brazilain/afro cuban jazz group Matanzas before us on Sun night, so I used her gear, as seen in the pics.
She's a great girl, nice chops too.

Nice chops

fnarr fnarr :p

Seriously, though - looks like you had a fun weekend with some great people. If only every weekend was like that, eh?

Off to Japan in a couple of weeks to do 8 gigs in 4 days - I don't post often, but I'll try to post some pics of that trip, if only to let you all know who I am.

Most weekends here are like that dude! Just that I dont have my camera with me at every gig.

I have another gig with our cuban timba group 'Armandito Y Su Mecanica' tommorrow night again at The Basement, will get some pics up when I get back, as well, this Saturday starts the Cuban Festival, goes for 4 weeks, every Saturday night for 4 weeks our band will be headlining from 12.00am-3.00am

We are pretty much booked well into next year with both my bands!!

mjw,

Please do post some pics when you get back! What sort of band will you be travelling with?
