Painting fiberglass - what type of paint

Greetings to all. I hope everyone is doing fine and in the best of health.
Can someone please help or give me info on the best way to paint my congas.... I have a set of fiberglass LP classic congas which are need of an overhaul. Im not sure on which paint to use . I was told by a friend of mine to sand them down, prime them and take them to a local body shop? Can someone give me info on painting congas. These are my babys and do not want to damage them. Thank you
