Alafia Abures!
I hope that you are all well and in an abundance of wonderful blessings!
I have, probably one of the last sets of "Fat" Congas, which happen to be Cherry wood. I totally agree with what Abure Pcastag has stated, Cherry is quite mellower, and is great for recordings, or working with acustical groups (guitar, flute). The wood is also very light in weight, a big plus for most of us. The drawback, of course is if you are playing in a loud band with horns, electric guitars and the sort, of course you can mic them, but you still sacrifice some sound in the process.
I still prefer Cherry to Oak though. I'm currently in the process of stripping, staining, and refinishing my LP Palladiums, I'll post some pics when I'm done. I figured that since no one wants to buy them, I might as well make them look appealing to me. They are looking awesome my brothers!
