!Chacho! I did a gig this year for the Food Network when they filmed out here at the "Phoenician Resort"!
Man, there was food everywhere, but none to be had by any of us (working folks).

I had to argue with the agent to get us some bottled water, and this is with 100 degree temperatures out here. Some lady in attendance fell out of her chair, I can't imagine how that happened, and injured her shoulder. The show kept right on filming though!

This was the second "Food Network" gig I've had, the first one was at the "Radisson Resort" several years ago, at least there we got a chance to scarf down some groceries!

Many blessings!

Yeah, Cyro told me that he would walk from the village in NY to about 70th, practicing his pandeiro. Yes the man is very well versed in the Brasilian percussion, thought me some tricks here and there.

I believe 2 of the hardest instruments to Master is the "Pandiero'(cause if u have ever held a "real" Brasilian Pandiero it would kill you)...they are very heavy and hard to hold for any length of time...and the other is the "Berimbau"...held up by a "pinky finger"....also takes lots of practice and skill....I LOVE BRASILIAN PERC!....I did tour with Sergio Mendes but at the time I wasn't really skilled in Brasilian perc, but I did my best. I wanted Sergio to send me to "Samba" School in Brasil, but he wouldn't do it ..But he sent Ron Powell to Samba School for 3 months, Ron replaced me with Sergio's band....why he sent Ron and not me < I'll never know...."JC" Johnny Conga...
