Conga stands

Hey ta all tha fasthands out there!!!

Would be nice If anyone got me an idea what kind of Stands I should buy?! Solid, light like a feather and strong support!

I don't know about light like a feather, but I can tell you about strong and solid. My LP double conga stand is the best out there that I know of. I've played gibralter stands which are supposed to be stong to, but they didn't compare to the classic professional LP double conga stand. Howver if your looking for basket stands, I can't say much. I'm new with those.

I've got a stand for my Gon Bops that is anything but light.

I also have 1 of these Meinl stands. I've had it for a while(mine's black) and would love a few more, but I play seated. They are pretty light and break down to a small profile. They have a wide range of adjustments and are pretty darn sturdy. Check 'em out...

Yes, yes, those Meinl stands are great! My teacher, has them, but he gets 'em almost for free, 'cause he's a meinl endorser.
If I had the extra money, I would buy them, double stands put IMO too much pressure on one point of the shell.

Abure Michelito, I guess the question is, are you a seated player? or do you play standing?
There are plenty of stands out there which are available, most of which will be cumbersom (bulky) and costly. If you are a seated player, LP Conga feet are the cheapest way to go, however that will also depend on the thickness of your drums at the bottom.

I recently acquired a set for my drums, and I am limited in usage. I can only use them with my set of Gon Bops, they don't seem to work well on the Patato Model drums I have (keep slippin').

Gon Bops has a new seated conga cradle which I haven't used, but it looks light in weight. I contacted them and learned that they cost around $90 a piece (too costly for me). I have a set of LP Cradles which I have joined together and use them either standing or sitting, depending on my back situation. You can find them around $80 to $110, depending on your search.

I also have a set of Pearl collapsable stands (black), they are really great and sturdy for standing gigs. I got them for about $59 each. Great deal actually.

Cripes that thing lists for $300 bills!!! It looks similar in design to the Meinl stand.

I use the LP conga feet on my Gon Bops and they work fine( for seated playing). I think the thickness of the wood shell helps keep them in place, so they may not work with fiberglass.

Is it a really good stand? My stands are kind of moving a bit when soloing. Maybe I would go for them, if they are really solid and practical.

Welcome, as mentioned, do you play sitting or standing?

Lightweight stands in my opinion are usually no good for standing players, they simply cant take the beating a 'latin setting' player would give them.

I had the opportunity to test those Meinl stands posted just above a while back, and they nearly collapsed on me while i was playing them in my timba band, it felt lke i was going to break them, wobbly unstable stands.
I turned down a Meinl endorsement based on those stands and their Mongo Santamaria congas which I extensively tested and reviewed.

I use the LP Collapsible cradle stands. Can be used in a sitting situation or standing.
I always play standing though.
Sure they are heavy, but they are the ultimate is sturdyness and will not move, they hold the drum in perfect position all night and can take a beating.

In the past Ive used the LP double conga stand, the LP single conga stand, they were ok and good stands, all sturdy...
But in all the years Ive played and all the gigs/equipment Ive had the opportunity of using, these collapsible cradle stands I use now are simply the best, nothing esle has come close to them.

Yes! Those are the ones that I was referring to. I actually got them to use with my Palladiums, they worked quite well with them (those drums are heavy as any conga has ever been).

The problem with the stand that I noticed is that with the 14" Supertumba, I couldn't get the strap to go around it completely, but that didn't stop me from using them.

Just a warning! Be careful with your fingers when collapsing them, they can be a bit tricky!
