I'm not sure if this contributes something to the discussion, but I got an LP cajón a few weeks ago and there wasn't to much (or any) padding on the box; just a few plies of cardboard and that was it. Although, I bought other things from the same merchant and the box where everything came in had plenty of padding.

That same week I bought a Matador bongo from a our local LP distributor and there wasn't any padding neither - just the same kind cardboard for fitting. Same with the Matador congas I bought about 2 years ago.

Berimbau,

Tell your friend about this. I bit of boublewrap can save guarentee-related costs and acquire/keep satisfied customers.

I bought some Matadors several years ago and they were well packaged and arrived in perfect condition. I had to order them and have them delivered. Years later they still sound great, so I am happy with Matador. Now that Kaman has taken over LP I am not so sure if I would go with them again. I see them focusing more on fancy color schemes and marketing. I am going to keep an eye on them and see how the quality goes. Thank goodness my Matadors are going strong and I will not have to replace them for a long time.
