i know what you mean about being a family heirloom, i bought them with the intentions of keeping them for life, unless i find myself broke and have to sell them. but, i think i would sell my kids and wife before i sell my drums.

OK it worked! That is my folkloric stuff- so to speak. This is the set-up I use with our Jazz band named 'Buster's Luck'. I play either the congas or the snare, cymbal, and tom depending on the song. Next up will be my salsa setup, if I ever become good enough to play in a salsa band.

QGII I have some Tocas like that except they are bright banana yellow. They are powerfully loud!

OK I'm on a roll, but still no pro. That was the Salsa setup. Here is the Jazz setup. I play the congas or the snare, cymbal, and tom depending on the song. Now I have to work on getting some audio and video posted. Tried some audio again but don't know why it didn't work. Think maybe the file was to big or I ran out of patients thinking it was not going though. Thanks! to Abakua for the instructions on how to upload pics the resizing was key I believe. Thanks! Great pics and impressive layout. Wish I could afford all the toys you've got laid out. One question: On first pix there is what appears to be a garden hand spade on the floor. Am I wrong? If not .... a little explanation, please.

CongaTick, Thanks! I know. I'm blessed. Actually I'm very frugal in other aspects of my life, which helps a lot, and most of what I have were very good deals. I must admit drumming has become my main passion in life, and it been difficult to resist the urge to get another toy. Yes the spade is a spade. Its been flattened. I like the higher ring-ee pitch for the 6/8 bell pattern, after hearing a Guiro cd by Grupo Ghango Leye. I use a spare lug rod to strike it. Like the metal on metal sound over the wood on metal.

GREAT!! I love improv perc toys. Made a set of claves from an ash shovel handle. Their sound is perfect and punches more than standard rosewood.

Respectfully, may I suggest black color text in future postings. May be my eyes or my computer, but almost impossible to read the yellow. Hope you'll take this as a helpful suggestion.
