Hello goood friends.

I am looking at a used set of patato fiberglass 11 3'4" and 12.5. Includes floor stands and brand new bags for aprox 800$ plus shippping. Does this sound like a good idea and do you have any reviews about the patato drums as I have never played them before. I play a more modern style of jam/rock music as well as more traditional afro rythms. My other alternative to this is waiting to see what else comes on the used percussion scene or buy a brand new set of proabably 3 tycoon drums for prolly 900$. What do you think guys any advice would be greatlyt appreciated. Thanks.

ho grateful1

patatos are the best fiberglassdrums i played till now. would say one of the highlights in lp-selection. dont know usprice, in europe they are about 500 euro(ca 660 us-dollars) each without stand or bag. patatos are easy to be sold again, if you ever want to get rid of them.
i suppose 800 dollars is a little bit more than half the price you paid if you were to buy the whole bundle new.
sounds ok for me, not really an occasion...

I have also found a 3 piece galaxy fiberglass form Lp set that is in my price range but it comes with no stands no bags. What is the difference between galaxy and patato fiberglass??

grateful1, the main differences:
tuning lugs 3/8" with galaxy (that is stronger, but not really necessary), 5/16" with patato (that is lp-standard-tuning lug),
price of galaxy is higher,
different colors for patatos,
no gold hardware on patatos ( i am not sure about this one).
patatos are known by congueros all over da world, best reputations.

Hi

I have a patato quinto.. it's a bomb..

crisp sound, very strong, a bit heavy but who cares....

I changed the skin and put a very thick one. The hardware is acception the extra tension with no problem.. a great quinto...

But I have to say that I paid 250 euros for it and a conga and tumba from Finish Percussions brand (also great but totally unknown)

800$ for 2 great congas with stands and bags? Do it man. Especially for the rock funk stuff...the patatos will cut thru and give you the appropriate sound. Sounds like a good deal to me....

Yeah $800 sounds like a good deal, you should go for it,
if you end up not liking them Patato's should be pretty easy
to unload for you original price.................G!
