The 15th should work for me!!
I'm traveling to Arcata through San Fran.
Gotta be at Humboldt on the 21st.
Sunday out to be good for those on the classic work-week schedule, and it's not on the July 4th weekend.
Can you give directions for Mosswood?
Thanks for arranging this Taiko & Blango!!

15th would be grand.

Can we make it at 11:00? or is that too early for you gigging cats?

Going once ... going twice ... sold!

Sunday, July 15
11 am
Mosswood Park
3612 Webster Street
Oakland
Map >

With this location there are too many possible directions people might be coming from to write them all up here, so please just use the directions tool in the google maps links above.

BART: At MacArthur Station, walk up MacArthur to park (5-10 minute walk)

I have not actually been to Mosswood Park, but have asked around and heard (from Tony/blango here and others) that it'd good place for us to do our thing.

Park review from yelp.com:
-----------------------------------------------
It's a great city park with a great balance of open space with foilage and trees.

Mosswood is great because:

-You can usually find gang-bangers playing hoops with mohwak'ed punks.

-Sunday punk-rock kickball games (are these still happening?)

-Bike punks having romantic picnics

-Cute dogs galore.

Logistics to work out:
- Where is the best spot for us? (Tony, you're the only one here who's been there.)
- Parking/unloading the gear?
- BBQ (Do they have them or not? If not, I have a small one and we'll need one more.)
- Bring something to put on the coals, some snacks to share and something to drink
- Chairs for kicking back and stools for drumming (I have an extra stool and low lawn chair I can bring)
- I plan to get there early to lock down a spot. Tony, what time do you think I need to do it to be safe?
- Camera/Video
- Other?

Bring the family, a friend, the dog, a frisbee, etc.

Oh, yeah, and bring a drum or two.

Cool like that,

There is a table and a bbq at the north side of the park. there is close parking for unloading gear.

As early as you can get there, the better. 9 or 10 - later running the risk of not getting a table/bbq.

We should bring a bbq, a seat, and a hat, just in case.

I can bring my video camera, and Rick will have a full set of Gon bops oak, original patina with the inlaid bands, fyi :D

We'll have clave, bells, cata, and shekere - usual traveling gear...

I think it would be fun to bring a rare tub, or set of bongo, to check out. That is, if we all promise to leave the wrenching up to the owners

Would it be ok to invite other collectors/players, or do we want this to be a congaboard crew only?

Yes! I encourage everyone to be some cool tubs!
The only way to check out some makes of congas
is from other players sets! So please bring whatever
you feel comfortable bringing.
It probably doent need to be said, but proper etiquette
is to ask before handling someone elses drum!
I just wish I had something cool to bring as well, oh
well someday!

Wow sounds Great , I havent been playing long but can a couple of Newbies come ? I live in Hayward and should be able to make it. I think My cousin might want to come along. Havent played with anybody before not use to live drumming normally just play to cd's . It would be nice to see some real players and get some help on tuning my Congas. If thats ok let me know.

Thanks ALL

Oh, for sure. The real point of this thing is community and getting to know one another.

REMINDER - IT'S THIS COMING SUNDAY - JULY 15!!!

FYI: We need one more bbq (I'm bringing my small one) in case we can't get a spot with built-in ones.

Sorry, should have responded to this for everyone earlier. The more the merrier - we might recruit some new CongaBoard members.
