Should I apply manteca de corojo to brand new skins? Is that part of the breaking in process? Thanks for all your input...

I always use the grocery store drums on my skins, never noticed any problems with it. I've also used shea butter as well, but the manteca de corojo seems to absorb more readily than shea butter. It is the same as dende oil BTW.

i have used manteca de corojo for years , its what my pop & all my uncles used aswell since as far back a i can remember , however i just wanted to mention that "tea tree oil" is the best thing to rejuvinate your skins , its kind of expensive , but the first time i tried it was on my timbas & the skins felt so sweet & sound way way better afterwards...

also for you guys using manteca de corojo for the first time, be sure to use a little dab on your skin , cause if you apply to much its gona cake up & ruin your skin & kill the warmness & you will end up with a muffled sound. also whatever you are gona apply to your skins should only be once in a while, cause the realty is if you can play , you can play , im not trying to act like a pro but i know i can make an aspire sound as sweet as a cuban drum , so therefore
practice makes all the difference in the sound of any drum or skin :D :D :D ...
i hope my 2 cents made sense , take care fellas...
