Hey what's up Tony..... Pili from ISLA Percussions is in da house...... I'm posting some photos of the Bata set that will be at Humbolt.
The rumba at La Peña was slammin' bro. It was good to see you there hangin' out with the Bay area timberos.

Pili,

Nice to see you as always. Thanks for that fat Yambu

You are the man Pili, no matter how humble you are. Can i post you ripping at La Pena? It would be cool for people to see how you can play...

re: the pics of the set of Bata for sale:

Brother, long after we are gone, they will be singing to the Santos!

Nice work. I love the Iya!

Thanks for all the inspiration and guidance Pili,

Tony

Hi Whopbamboom, the bata set that you see above is made of canoe wood. Comparable in density to the cedar, mahogany family. Semi-hard and lightweight.

I know three people who want this set!

Pili, tell all that you can order them, right?

We can all get a set in a month or two.

Hey Tony, pass the word......The Bata set or Congas can be purchased direct from the manufacturer @ www.islapercussions.com or call Mario 310-916-3425
All you need to do is to put down a small deposit of $150.00 per drum and my brother Mario will get your drums delivered within 2 months.
Note: I've seen Mario put out drums in 6 weeks.

Tonio,

Big congratulations, bro! You won't regret it.

We are all true brothers and sisters here in this forum sharing the same passion and love for percussion. Nevertheless, I'd like to accord you a special welcome to the Isla sub-family. Knowing the little that I know about you, I have a very strong gut feel that Islas are the drums after your Latino heart and soul.

Now, the only problem is counting all those sheep every night waiting for them to finally arrive at your doorstep. Ha, ha, ha! :;):

I can guarantee you, though, that it's well-worth the wait. Besides, at about "only" 2 months, it's shouldn't too bad. :D

Tonio,

Here's a picture of my killer Islas again, just to whet your appetite. :;): Pardon the slightly-blurred image, but I didn't take this picture.

Isla drums are the new kids on the block. Based on my extensive (even anal) research, Islas are the most promising drums to come out lately. They have pure, unadulterated Afro-Cuban/Latin folkloric sound, sound, sound and looks. Plus, for awesome handcrafted drums, they're sold at very reasonable (even affordable) prices.

IMO, Islas are undoubtedly the best bang for the buck! This is not to mention the unanimously-praised super customer service by the owner of Isla Percussion himself, Senor Mario Antonio Punchard. :D

Hey Thanks Manny!!
I may be counting sheep, but I will be picking them up. Mario even said to bring a camera etc. Hows bout a camcorder for a small intro shoot for Isla? Of course I'll ask him first :D

I don't have any bata yet. Saw and played a tiny bit the ones Pili brought to Humboldt.
When I'm ready to buy them, they'll be Islas.
Thanks Pili!
